20260324 - Up in the am and had a challenge getting out of the drive, the trash truck had broken down... Dropped off a package at the post office and then in to the Worthington office. Got set up, worked on my bonsai for a couple min and then got ready for a morning of calls. Calls ran over lunch and I ate in my office while on more calls. Super busy day, finished up late but remembered to paint the door that I had ground down a couple days ago. Had extra paint so left a message on the side of the building for CB.

20260124 + Tommy's 49

20260124 + Up at 5:30am and couldn't go back to sleep. Up and had some coffee with L and then prepping the bedroom for some work in there today. Heading out to drop off a shipment, get some stuff at Home Depot, gas in L's car and pick up auction wins. Home and unloaded everything and got to work in the bedroom. First job was to to install a new properly grounded outlet for the new grounded sheets. Hope I don’t electrocute us in our sleep… second project was to hang a TV on the bedroom wall and run electric up to it. Well first job went way easier than expected… second job made up for that and was a nightmare! Figured it out and got it done. L&I then headed to our friend Tom’s bday party with his family. The McClains were there too and it was a really good time. Home and to bed. 

20250807 - Heart Ablation

20250807 - Up early and L took me to Mt. Carmel East and we got checked in. Got ready and wheeled in the a super futuristic OR that looked like something out of StarTrek. Got put under At 10:50 and woke up at 1. While I was out I got a heart ablation… This is a pic of heart, left is before, right is after. The purple is electrical current, it was all over the place, that’s what caused me to go into AFIB. So they isolated the electric signals so should be all good now.

Got sent home about 4:30 with just 2 little bandaids on… Had some dinner, a little sore but ok. Couldn’t sleep as I was asleep most of the day.

20250420 - Up in the am and L drove Hazel and I to Gma&paB's for Easter. DJG, Hanna and Hank showed up not much later. The Cole's were there and we had a proper feast for lunch. Hazel and I took a big walk looking for maple trees but didn't find any this trip. Hung out a bit and then we headed home. Home too late to do any work outside so hung out the rest of the night and watched American Idol

20250401 - L's bday today! Guys came to install 3 new windows for us, only 1 fit, they measured wrong... In the evening D, DGF13, J&I took L to dinner at Rusty Bucket. It was a fun meal with the boys. Home and tried out my new glass eye, looks way better than the old one.

20230322 - Up early and layered up like a club sandwich, L&I headed to Olentangy Liberty wind tunnel for G’s scrimmage. He’s not playing as he’s been out the last 2 days. We stayed almost the whole

Game. G did get in when a kid got injured for one inning and one at bat grounding out in the infield. We headed home and D and Hank were here out in the backyard with Hazel. LD&I cut down the grasses along the fence. Bill Varney stopped and picked me up and we headed to the lower.com stadium for a Crew soccer game. We had great seats that came with free food and drink! Really neat atmosphere and fun to be at even though it ended in a tie, how does any sporting event end in a tie??? Home and to bed.

20250314 + Up in the am and to the desk getting things done. Headed out at noon to Creekside the tattoo place, L met me there, and I got my block 'O' to commemorate the run for the 2024 Championship! It took a couple hours and it HURT! Afterwards we walked the Cantina and got some lunch and saw the guys from the city dye the fountain area. Home and relaxed for a bit and then headed downtown to the Fury game, they are so fun!

20250312 - Up in the am and to the desk. Hazel and I took a walk. L home and we headed out to the baseball field for 'Meet the Team' night. it was good to see all the boys on the field and listen to their introductions of themselves. After we finished up we swung by Signatures for a couple rounds of bingo and I stayed late to help them get the new karaoke equipment tuned in.

20250214 - Tattoo 2

20250214 - In bed this morning and heard L get up and open her Valentine's Day card. I then heard her stomping back in to the bedroom, where she proceeded to pull back the covers and rip my shirt sleeve up to see if the tattoo in the picture that I put in her card was real. Yup it is real. I got it in Texas when G got his and hid it from her until today! Up and to the desk, got some stuff done, took hazel on a walk and then L & I headed out. We went downtown to the Short North and had dinner at OX-B's a wings place that was attached to Brew Dog. We then headed into the Garden Theater to see Nine the Play. It was interesting... Home and hung out until bed.

20241105 - First Time Voter!

20241105 - Up too early and G&I headed to the the voting booth for G’s first vote. The lady there asked G if it was his first time voting, and then announced to everyone he was a first time voter and everyone cheered and clapped for him. In the car for a long trip north to Heidelberg University. It was a very personalized visit and we met with the assistant baseball coach, a guidance counselor and a cheerleader gave us a tour and a t-sheet. The school is small but beautiful! On to Bowling Green State University for a completely different experience. Huge room full of people for the presentation part and 3 families per tour guide. It was a much bigger campus with a lot more walking, very similar to Miami, except the buildings and girls were prettier at Miami. After the tour we headed home. Home and gave L a report of the day and then G took off. J stopped by after he and D voted and we chatted a bit and ate dinner. L&I hung out the rest of the evening watching the election results come in. I was up until 4am watching and have to say I believe the citizens of the USA sent a HUGE message to the Left tonight, ‘We’re done with all the goofy shit you have been trying to normalize the last several years.’ Hopeful this country will correct course with this opportunity…

20240417 - Rain Out Bingo

20240417 - Up and J home for the morning to get his passport submitted. I had to wake him up so he didn't miss the window at USPS. On the PC on calls and working the P&L. Raining this morning. I forgot Hazel outside and she got soaked. I was at the desk most of the day. Took a break to take Hazel on a walk. Headed to the baseball field and got things set up in the concession stand and then headed to the press box. Got everything up, got the rosters 7 min before game start… and got things rolling. 1 inning in and lightning struck and the skies opened up with rain and hail. Game got suspended to another day and we headed for the car and got SOAKED! I dropped L off at home and then headed to Signature’s for bingo with Tom. D stopped by for a beer and the Ferguson’s showed up and we had a good time. Home, chatted with L a bit and then went to bed. Woke up at 2 and was awake until 4…

20240412 + C230 Towed

20240412 + Up and to the desk. Went to lunch with my buddy Andy Reed to get caught up and get some baseball insight from him, he has 1 boy in D1 baseball, and 1 in JUCO. Home and finished the day. G lost his mind, his car wont run... L&I went to see the movie 'Civil War'. It was so good I fell asleep... I never fall asleep during movies... home after the movie and L pulled me in G's car to Tuffy to have it check out.

20230108 - D went to G’s basketball game, said the kids were acting like idiots. L&I went to Joe Dixon’s 50th bday party in the church he helped start in Whitehall

20220501 - Pizza Party

20220501 - L up early and went to church. I got some things ordered from the grad party list and then G wanted to go to Trent's so he drove over. I headed back to the house and headed up to the boys bathroom to clean it up and re-caulk it. It turned in to a much bigger project than I anticipated and took FOREVER. L was outside with Hazel edging flow beds and pulling weeds and cleaning things up outside, looks great! I headed down and started working on the grape arbor, not a lot, just pulling the vines that went up in to the trees down. I ran to get G and we then stopped and picked up some pizzas. D&DGF13, J&JGF6 were there when we got back and we had a nice dinner on the patio. The boys threw the ball a bit and the girls discussed prom. It was a nice evening. Everyone headed out and L&I cleaned things up and watched American Idol while I did some Booster stuff.

20220213 + Walk and Bet

20220213 + Up in the am and G’s baseball has been cancelled this am. I do a couple things around the house and it is a pretty lazy day. In the late afternoon G got picked up by a buddy and headed to his basketball game. L&I got ourselves together and headed downtown to meet the Pettits and take the Valentine’s Chocolate & Cocktails walk around to various Creekside businesses. There were about 8 places on the list and we went from place to place having some tasty treats and drinks and good conversation. It was a nice afternoon. Home and G was there with Gma&paW, they had come down to watch his game. We visited for a bit and then they took off and L started cooking some Super Bowl treats while Hazel and I took G out to Andrews to watch the game. Home and L&I had our snacks and watched the game. Got a text from Terrill that G won $160 in a bet they had at the party… The Game was ok, halftime show too strange for me and the commercials aren’t as good as they used to be. The Bengals lost so that was a bummer. I headed out and picked G up. Home and shut down for the night, ready for a busy week. 

20220203 + Sweater Model

20220203 + Up in the am and the weather wasn't as bad as predicted. Everything got closed last night so LJ&G didn't have school. I headed in to the office and got to work. J took off for JGF6's and L brought me lunch. It wasn't until late afternoon that the sleet turned into huge snow flakes and blanketed everything pretty quick. I finished up my day and headed out to shovel and throw the ball to Hazel while she sported her new sweater. G's buddy Andrew showed up to spend the night and he and G took off and got some sledding in. They got home about dark and had some dinner and we headed to the basement to watch the new Marvel Eternals.

20220123 - Balls & Pucks

20220123 - Up in the am late am and L ran to get G and his friend. They came home for a minute and then we headed to G's basketball game. They were playing another team of all Gahanna kids that were sophomores and it was a hoot. It was a good game and G's team won with bragging rights. We headed home and dropped his friend off on the way. After a bit L&I headed out to shovel some of the snow that's coming down and took Hazel on a long walk. Back home and warmed up watching some good football. After a bit I headed out and picked up D and we went to a Blue Jackets hockey game. We had great seats and had a beer and some pizza and watched a good game and chit chatted the whole time. I dropped D off after the game and headed home. Home and got ready for a busy week.

20220112 + Sworn In Again

20220112 + Up in the am and LJ&G at school. I got to the PC and started moving things forward. It was an ok day with some progress. L took Hazel on a big walk and then took G to the Athletic Trainer to see if he is cleared for baseball conditioning, he's good to go, so she ran him home to get his baseball stuff and dropped him off at the high school. I finished my day, ripped the KVM out of my office, it isn't working after really trying it for 3 days... I grabbed my things and headed out to City Hall. I was sworn in for another 3 year term on the Landscape Board by the Mayor and then we had our first meeting of the year. After the meeting I waited in the parking lot for G to finish up conditioning and carry him home. Home and got some dinner and L&I watched a couple episodes of Yellowstone.

We got a nice letter from one of G's teachers today:

Hello Coach Shade & Mr. and Mrs. Winger, 

We wanted to reach out to let you know that Grant has become a true leader in our English class and a great role model to all peers, but specifically his baseball teammates.  He started working in a small book club group today with some of his fellow teammates and another student.  He was organized, made sure everyone's voice was heard, and kept the group together while we were circulating the room and hallways. We were very impressed!

20211231 - Happy New Year

20211231 - Up in the am and at the desk doing a couple of year end tasks and checking on things. I then paid the bills for the next 2 weeks and then balanced and closed the books on all our accounts. Out to the living room to watch Cincinnati play in their first big bowl game. Hazel and I took a big walk. back to the house and G Hazel and I ran to Hot chicken Takeover to pick up dinner. home and we ate. G then decided he wanted to go do something so he made plans and L ran him to the movies. L&I doing year end things on our PCs. We got J's FASFA filled out and they said we could contribute $47k to his college this year...??? L looking for resorts to try to nail something down for our summer vacation which we didn't get to use this year... We barely made it to the ball drop. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

20211222 - Hazel Crash

20211222 - Up in the am and to the desk. Got a bunch of things moved forward this morning. Hazel and I took a cold walk and back tot he desk. D stopped over to get the HSA card to go get his finger looked at. I finished the day and we had some dinner. Hazel got the scare of her life... while 'helping clean the dishes' (licking the plates as L puts them in the dishwasher), her dog tags got stuck in the dishwashers lower rack and as she backed away the rack followed her and plates flew out clanging loudly on the tile and she broke free and ran to the basement to hide. We got everything cleaned up and got hazel calmed down and called it a night.
