20120606 - Sad Evening

20120606 - Up and to the desk for a super full and fast day.  On the road with L&G up to Aunt Louise's calling hours.  Louise looked beautiful and had a pleasant little smile.  Lots of family and friends there.  Lots of people we didn't recognize...  Back to farm for dinner with Gma&paW.  GpaW was up and about and doing pretty good. He looks tired and weak and very upset about everything that has happened to him and Louise...  Stayed up talking.

I don't remember many things from being little, but I know when I get flashes of my earliest memories I can think of no other person that loved me like my Aunt Louise.  I remember riding in the car with her and when we drove past the penitentiary in Mansfield she would tell me that is where the bad boys go and she never wanted to see me in there, or she would want to drop me off, depending on the day :-)  She would walk around her house in the summer in her bra.  She laughed with me, spent time with me and treated me as her own son.  She was always very funny and cheerful and witty.  Very lively and fun to be around.  I always knew which present was from here; she would wrap her presents in the cartoons she saved from the paper.  She didn't like dogs and loved the Saturday Night Live 'Church Lady' and would act like her.  I knew she would always be there for me.  I have her phone number memorized and remember having a guy call her the night I had my big accident; she was there.  Always a fun, fantastic part of my life.  I love my Aunt Louise and know tonight she is where she wants to be.  See you Weezer, tell Burton and Grandma Winger I said hi.

I can hear her say it now 'I'll see you in the funnies'...

Obituary: 

     Louise Ann Winger Kelley, 71, a lifetime Mansfield resident, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 in Hospice House of North Central Ohio after battling multiple myeloma for seven years. 

     Louise was born December 9, 1940 in Ashland to John William and Mary Kathryn (Kohler) Winger. As a first grader, she was the third generation of her family to attend Buena Vista, a one room schoolhouse in Mifflin Township. She was a 1958 graduate of Madison High School. Louise was a secretary starting at the Richland County Board of Education and later working over twenty years at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church and the Pavonia Garden Club. 

     Louise enjoyed homemaking and working in her garden. She loved cars and driving. She had a good sense of style. 

     Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and a devoted daughter. She was married forty-five years to Burton Warren Kelley who preceded her in death in 2008. 

    She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael B. and Diana (Worner) Kelley; her daughter Stephanie Ann (Kelley) Shiplett; her granddaughter and the light of her life, Casey Diane Kelley, all of Mansfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law Roger and Jeanne Winger of Marion, John and Betty Winger of Carroll, and D. Charles and Diane Winger of Mansfield; and twin sisters and their husbands Mary and John Terry of Shelby and Martha and Jim Eubanks of Wheeling WV. 

     Louise enjoyed family and was close to her many nieces and nephews, their children, and her first cousins. She had many dear friends, and the family would like to thank all of them for their loving care and friendship through the years. 

     Her parents preceded her in death. 

     The Kelley family will receive friends Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A worship service, giving glory to God for the life of Louise Kelley, will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Ashland Brethren in Christ Church, 2750 Mifflin Avenue, Ashland. Private interment will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. 

     Memorial contributions to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805, may be made through the funeral home.

20110820 - Family Everywhere!

20110820 - Up and down to the barn for my Dad's barn talk, where he went over the history of the barn and what he had learned from a guy that restores old barns.  It was a beautiful day and there were relatives ll over the barn and farm house just looking at things and talking about memories and getting reacquainted.  Ellen gave G a guided ride on Dusty, Jack got stung on the play-set and D played frisbee with his new found cousin from WA.

We took a break and headed up to Camp Mowana for lunch.  We then broke up into groups; some went on a hay ride to the family cemetery, some back to the Farm and some to the Falls and Pine Forrest.

After our walk we took a dip in the Camp pool and had fun throwing and dunking and messing around.  All cleaned up and back to the retreat center for a nice dinner and program.  There were poems read, memories shared, skits, pictures of people and the year they joined the family and this priceless classic of the Kohler family hoedown.



We stayed until late and then headed back to the Farm for bed.

20110219 + A Lot in a day

20110219 + Up for J's 8am basketball game.  Lunch w/ all at Bob Evans.  Home put Lego together w/ G. D to a bday party, L got groceries, J&I cut the ornamental grasses down for Spring.  Then G&I had our first game of baseball on tha backyard diamond for the 2011 season :-)  In to get cleaned up and rest a bit b4 D's basketball game tonight.  To D's game and were surprised to meet Gma&paW there along with Louise and Paulette.  D's team got SKUNKED in the game...  Afterwords we picked up some dinner at the City Barbecue and home to eat and have some dessert and conversation.  All boys to bed, L&I watched a movie.

090829 - Dusty Bottoms

090829 - Up and L&J off to soccer practice, DG&I hung put and cleaned up after bfast and hung out and watched our neighbor get one of their big trees cut down in their backyard. When we all regrouped we saddled up and headed to the Farm. At the Farm we picked up Gma&paW and headed to the Richland County Fairgrounds for a big flea market. We saw tons of treasures and everyone got something... On the way home we stopped at Camp Mowana to see the new barn they built in place of the old one that burned down. While there the boys saw a tee pee and took off running to it. We explored a bit and then back to the Farm for some pony rides. We hitched Dusty up, Aunt Weezer showed up, and we were off to the races! Here Jack is taking Weezer on a ride. After everyone had their fill of rides we got Chinese and dinner in the old farmhouse. Headed home, showered the boys up and everyone off to bed after a fun day.

080809 - World gone Mad

080809 - L&I stayed @ the farm last night. Up and off to Burts funeral. It was a very nice service and very sad. Family from all over were there and we had a dinner after the cemetary.
I really don't know how this happened. Burt was sick for like 4 days, then gone. How is this possible? Why do things happen like this? Louise... I donalt what to do or think, all I can feel is helpless.
080808 - GmaB over to stay w/ the boys. L & I to Mansfield and Burts calling hours. The number of people that showed up was unbelievable. It was very hard. Steph, Michael, Weezer and the rest Burts family were coping in the midst of the horrible shock.
L&I got some food w/ Dave & Misty and then met up with the aunts and uncles for some conversation. Pretty devistating, unexpected and scary.

080807 - In a haze. Up all night writing the P SOW to get tomorrow off for Burts funeral.

080806 - Has the world gone completely mad? While on a con call today Lori came in and told me Uncle Burton died. What is going on?

080805 - Fast day, L & I took the boys to the pool. Jack went down the big slide and is swimming great.

080804 - Bought 2 houses today w/ Jeff. Stopped by CVS to get Burt some car magazines.

080217 - Delivery

080217 - Up, L & the big boys to church. G & I played ball, watched tv and played. Everybody home and piled in the car and headed to the farm. Had a nice lunch w/ Gma & pa W & Great Gma Heydinger.
After lunch we build a huge army fort gmaw got for them... Bert & Weezer stoped for some conversation.

070203 - Afternoon in Mansfield

Got up this morning and headed went to the church pancake breakfast. Then ran to Meijer for some dog food and other supplies. Home, fed the dogs, everyone to the bathroom and then up to Mansfield. All the boys were sleeping so we went straight into the nursing home.

I went in alone to see Grandma Winger. She was sleeping so I didn't wake her. I sat with her a bit and thought of all the things she has done for me as I watched her facial expressions in painful twitches. I wrote a note in her book, gave her a kiss and said good bye... The last conversation we had was at the Winger Christmas party as she was leaving. I gave her a hug and a kiss, told her i loved her and she, through her fogged mind smiled and said 'I know you do honey'. For that to be our last conversation will be a good life long memory. What a great lady and what an impact she has made on my life. I will be traveling extensively here soon and probably wont see her alive again...

Very sad moment in my life....

Home to the farm. Went sled riding with my boys and then Mary and Martha, Burt and Louise stopped to see my family. Eating dinner now and then heading home.
